About the Book

A novel of crime, lineage, and reckoning.

An I for an I is a dual-narrative literary novel set against the backdrop of Baltimore's urban landscape. The story follows Saba — later known as Menelik — a young man navigating identity, survival, and the weight of a lineage he is only beginning to understand.

Alongside Saba's coming-of-age voice, a parallel storyline unfolds in the present day: a methodical executioner and the detective, Tourne Vinter, closing in on him. Beneath both narratives runs a deeper current — the ancient story of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, and the Ethiopian belief in their enduring bloodline.

Part crime fiction, part historical epic, part spiritual reckoning — a rare novel that asks what we owe to our past, and what the past owes to us.
