Ellis H. Glover has spent his life at the intersection of language, leadership, and creativity. As the Headmaster of Westminster School in Annandale, Virginia, he has shaped the minds of young students for decades — instilling in them a love of learning, literature, and rigorous thought.

But Ellis has never been only an educator. He is a playwright who has crafted and staged original theatrical works. He is a bandleader and musician whose original songs reveal a man who finds joy in performance and wordplay. He is a writer whose fiction has been decades in the making, shaped by everything he has observed, taught, and lived.

An I for an I is Ellis's debut novel, and it is a work of unmistakable ambition. Set in the Baltimore neighborhoods he knows deeply, the book draws on his lifelong fascination with history, mythology, and the stories that communities carry forward through generations. It is at once a crime narrative, a coming-of-age story, and an exploration of ancient lineage — specifically the Ethiopian belief in the bloodline of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba.

Ellis lives in Fairfax Station, Virginia. He is an active participant in the Washington D.C. literary community and has read from An I for an I publicly at local literary salons. He has three additional complete novel manuscripts in his catalog — this is only the beginning.

"I have always believed that the best stories are the ones that refuse to stay in one place. An I for an I moves — across time, across Baltimore, across history. That movement is the point."

— Ellis H. Glover
